Tab Freezing is a hidden feature of Edge Chromium, which literally means freezing the tabs. It consists in reducing the browser’s RAM consumption by disabling secondary tabs that have been inactive for at least 5 minutes.

To enable this feature, go to the advanced settings of the browser. Enter “edge://flags/” without quotes in the address bar.

Then type “Tab Freeze” in the search field.

All you have to do is go to the drop-down menu and click on “Enabled”.

Finally, note that you can also access the browser’s task manager to manage each tab and display the amount of resources consumed.

Edge Chromium’s Task Manager can be accessed using the Shift+Escap keyboard shortcut or by going to Menu > Additional Tools.
