OnePlus works on a 120 Hz smartphone screen 4q6w3s

Last week at CES 2020, OnePlus unveiled a prototype smartphone with cameras that can become invisible thanks to a specific material: electrochromic glass. This technology is not new, but this is the first time a smartphone manufacturer has used it to conceal a device’s photo sensors.

This is clearly a step forward for the industry as it moves towards the disappearance of camera lenses. Indeed, this technology is complementary to the one that allows to hide photo sensors under the screen of mobiles. However, this is not the only innovation OnePlus is currently working on.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau recently told Weibo that the company has completed its research and development work for a high refresh rate 120 Hz screen design.

If OnePlus does not manufacture this display from scratch, the company could source it from a major supplier such as Samsung.

In 2019, according to Display Mate, the manufacturer offered the best smartphone display ever in its OnePlus 7 Pro. He seems ready to continue along this path by increasing the maximum frame rate again to achieve better image quality and smoother operation.

The Chinese troublemaker will discuss the new screen in more detail at an event in China on Monday 13 January.
