Project Newsbar: What do we know about Microsoft’s new application? 306re

Microsoft is preparing something for us: a new application from the Redmond firm has just appeared on the Microsoft Store but it is not yet officially available.

It’s via a tweet from WalkingCat (relayed by Neowin) that we learn this news: a page of the Microsoft Application Store mentions a software called Project Newsbar. For the moment, it is not possible to it but the Neowin site has some information that we will communicate to you.

On the Microsoft Store, Project Newsbar uses the same logo as Microsoft News. As its name suggests, it is most likely an application that provides access to the latest news via a sidebar. This is reminiscent of the widget that was offered on Windows Vista.

It would be possible to place this news bar at the top, bottom, left or right of the screen. The proposed options allow you to select the display of the content: images, titles, both… It is not possible to add a source of articles: all the proposed news comes from Bing News. For the moment, Project Newsbar proposes only a very short list of options but it is possible that the application will be enriched before its official release.

As said earlier, a dedicated page is already available on the Microsoft Store but it is not possible to it. However, we know that the April 2018 update for Windows 10 is required to be able to install it. To be continued…
